Dr. Steven Schneider and Dr. Brant Luebbe, Board Certified Surgeons with Surgery
Group of Grand Island, are now performing LAP-BAND® System weight loss surgery
as an outpatient procedure at the Grand Island Surgery Center, 3610 Richmond
Circle, in Grand Island.
Offering LAP-BAND® as an outpatient surgery at Grand Island Surgery Center provides
patients with an expanded choice of locations. Until now, Dr. Schneider and Dr.
Luebbe have performed LAP-BAND® exclusively at Saint Francis Medical Center, and
will continue to do so as both an inpatient and outpatient procedure.
"Offering the LAP-BAND® System on an outpatient basis at the Grand Island Surgery Center results in significant cost savings for the patient by eliminating the traditional hospital stay," said Dr. Brant Luebbe. "That makes the procedure more accessible for those who qualify." Patients must meet certain qualifications to be eligible for the outpatient option.
LAP-BAND® is a surgically-implanted gastric banding system that reduces the amount of
food the stomach can hold at one time, causing the patient to feel fuller faster and stay full longer to promote steady weight loss. The system does not require cutting or stapling the stomach, and can be adjusted as the patient
progresses. Patients receiving the LAP-BAND® system are typically at least 100
pounds overweight, or have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 35 or more with certain
health factors, and have been unsuccessful with traditional diet and exercise
weight loss approaches.
Group of Grand Island was founded in 1999, and includes four surgeons who are
Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery, and Fellows in the American
College of Surgeons. Services include surgical cancer treatments, breast cancer
surgery, gallbladder removal, colonoscopy, gastroscopy, pediatric surgery,
weight loss surgery, aesthetic and body contouring procedures, and more.
